This is Mrs. Vasilie's 6th year teaching at St. Paul. She teaches 2nd grade and is an assistant coach for the cross-country team. Bethany received a Divine Call to serve St. Paul in the summer before the 2005-06 school year, having just graduated from what was then Concordia University, in River Forest, IL, with a BA in Elementary Education. An active flautist at school, she toured nationally and internationally with the University Wind Symphony. She also belonged to Kappa Delta Pi, the honors association for education. In the summer of 2007 she married a fellow Wind Symphony member and Concordia Alum, Mike, who currently teaches at Bethany Lutheran School in Naperville, IL. She and Mike currently reside in Downers Grove. In her free time, Bethany enjoys playing in Concordia’s University Band, spending time in her home town of West Allis, WI (just west of Milwaukee), and spending time with friends and family. Bethany started work on a master’s degree in reading in the fall of 2006 at Concordia. During the summer of 2008, she graduated with a master’s degree from the same institution from which she earned her bachelor’s degree. Bethany belongs to several professional organizations, including the Lutheran Education Association (LEA) and the International Reading Association (IRA). Bethany loves teaching in a place where she is able to share her faith and Gospel of Christ everyday with her students. She firmly believes that an education without faith is not a complete education. She feels blest to serve in the Lord in the role of school teacher.
