December 2008—St.  Petersburg, Russia   A GOOD WORD FROM CAMP from Leif & Zhanya Camp

(Click on http://www.flickr.com/photos/stpaulmp/ to see photos of the Camp’s work and life.  This month’s are here.)

In place of my usual prayer letter I am sending this following missive and pictures.  Prayer requests are simple--pray that all those this season who are running around, stop and reflect on the miracle of the Incarnation and let that fill their hearts with joy and comfort.  For those that believe, that they would be motivated to witness to those that do not--that we all understand that what really matters in this life is preparing the way, letting Christ increase, so that all might be saved!  Below are several photos:

ChristmasCard--Nastya and Karl as Angels spread the light at the ST. Mary's annual Christmas celebration (hosted by the Missionary Committee of the Church of Ingria).  This celebration allows Ingrians the chance to invite their friends to a celebration of the Birth of Jesus where Choirs from various parishes sing and the Gospel is preached.

Englishservice--we had our annual Christmas eve service.

IngrianChristmas--a result of the lights Karl and Nastya spread...

KarlandNastya Help--Karl and Nastya helped hand out the programs with the Christmas Carols before the Christmas service (which actually took place on the 20th).  I am proud that my children enjoy helping out with such services--it shows one is never too young to do their part for the Lord!

ScoutsYeshua--after much work, trying various computer programs and having my sanctification tested (and having to ask for forgiveness for using certain vocabulary words in anger at my computer) I managed to transfer my copy of Yeshua (the 5 part series put out by Lutheran Hour and translated into Russian in 1996 or 7 I believe) on to DVD.  I am now showing it to the scouts and leaders with whom I am working--and they find it interesting.

Two pictures of the Volkov Narcotreatment center--through the efforts of Olga Schmidt who is helping with the Church of Ingria's pro-life ministry, we have been invited to do seminars in the village of Volkov at a drug treatment center.  While there we also had a chance to talk to a women's shelter and may also start work there.

Keep all this in prayer and may we all open our hearts to receive the blessings of the Incarnation--forgiveness, freedom from guilt and shame, life now and eternal life.

Leif

In Christ,
