Of all the gifts for which we thank God, above all is the gift of Himself to us, His erring but redeemed children!  “Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).

Our purpose is to reach out to families and individuals of all backgrounds and bring them into healing and transforming relationships with the Lord Jesus and with others in His Church through the sharing of God’s Word and Sacraments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

FROM PASTOR JOHNSON.  “If you are in the hospital or are in need of pastoral care, please notify Maria in the church office.  If it is an emergency, please call my mobile phone (in printed copy of chimes).  Please don’t hesitate to call me at any hour if it is important; I keep the phone with me at all times.  If the matter is important enough to think about calling a pastor, by all means call me.  Please do not think you will disturb me or I will think the matter unimportant.  Thanks!”

THE LUTHERAN WITNESS.  It is the time again to renew the yearly subscription of The Lutheran Witness magazine.  Cost per issue is $1.18 ($14.16 per one year).  Please note that the July/August issue is a combined edition so there are only eleven (11) magazines mailed.  If you are not a current subscriber, but would like to be, please contact Maria in the church office at ext. 240 by February 25, or use a separate envelope marked “Lutheran Witness” and give it to an usher.  (Make your check payable to St. Paul Lutheran Church).

STEWARDSHIP CORNER.  “I am writing you a new command,” the Apostle John told his readers (1 John 2:8).  That command is to love others as we have been loved.  “Since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another,  he repeated in 1 John 4:11.  God didn’t just say He loved us.  “This is how we know what love us:  Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.  And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers  (1 John 3:16).  What are you willing to sacrifice in order to bring the message of God’s saving grace to others?

WELCOME ALL Toddlers to Sunday School in the Extended Day Care room across from the cafeteria.  There will be playtime and a short Bible lesson/activity.  Parents are encouraged to attend adult Bible class or stay with their child, according to preference.  If there are any questions, please see Johanna Johnson.

MANNA ORDERS…will resume the normal schedule.  Orders will be placed on Monday morning and delivered to school on Thursday.  Here is a perfect way help St. Paul through making everyday purchases…gas, food, household items, a dinner out, and perhaps even a birthday or anniversary present.  All you need to do is pick up a pencil and make your selections.  Order forms are located in the narthex of the church and in the hallway between the church and the cafeteria.  Forms may be given to Gail Grebasch following Sunday’s service or placed in the slot in the school office door.  THANKS FOR ORDERING FROM MANNA!!!

THANK YOU…A hearty “thank you” goes to all the students, parents, teachers, and congregation members who shopped at the book fair and made it a huge success.  Because of you, St. Paul will receive $500 in new books for the library.  A special word of thanks goes to all the volunteers who helped behind the scenes:  Audrey B. –W., Jon and Jan W., Ruth B.,

Dorleen M., Fred B., Mary O., and Sarah G.

CANDY! CANDY! CANDY…and more!!!  The St. Paul candy sale kicks off on Wednesday, February 7th.  Should you be approached by a student with an order form, give your taste buds a treat and place an order.  Profits earned by the 8th grade students will go to help underwrite their costs of outdoor education.  AGAIN, THANKS FOR SUPPORTING ST. PAUL!!!

CHAIRS…FREE CHAIRS.  There are some Kindergarten chairs free for the asking. If you wish to take one, or two, or more, feel free to do so, they are in the coat room by the entrance of the sanctuary.

CARE CORPS/PROVISO PANTRY.  Please clip the Shop and Share identification slip in this week’s Chimes and take it to your local Jewel store when you shop.  The dates when the slip is valid are this Monday – Wednesday (February 5 – 7).  Some proceeds from your cash register receipt will go to support the Proviso Pantry, a local pantry which we support in an effort to supply food for the needy in our area.  Thank you for your help!

On Sunday, May 6, Paul Shumaker will join more than 16,000 walkers and volunteers across Illinois in the 2007 MS Walk. He'll be showing his support by fund raising for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the 20,000 Illinois families touched by multiple sclerosis. The money raised at the 2007 MS Walk supports programs, services and vital research into the cause and cure of multiple sclerosis. He's accepted the challenge to raise funds for these programs. Your support will help him reach that goal, which in turn will make a difference in the lives of 400,000 Americans living with multiple sclerosis. He hopes you will join him either by walking along side him or making a donation to this goal to end the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.  Speak to Paul about how you can give your support or visit:  www.msillinois.org and follow the links for MS Walk 05/06/07 to search for Paul's name.  Thank you and bless you.
