Of all the gifts for which we thank God, above all is the gift of Himself to us, His erring but redeemed children!  Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).

Our purpose is to reach out to families and individuals of all backgrounds and bring them into healing and transforming relationships with the Lord Jesus and with others in His Church through the sharing of God’s Word and Sacraments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CONFIRMATION CLASS.  A Confirmation class for those children in public school – Grades 6th, 7th, and 8th, will begin soon.  If you are interested in having your child(ren) participate please notify the church office as soon as possible.  Please attend a short meeting that will be held on Sept. 23, immediately following the worship service.

THANK YOU to the painting crew!  They painted the east hallway of the school – What a difference!  The crew consisted of Angela and Sarah G., Maria L., Wayne L., Mark M., Veronica and Sonia M., Mary M., Jane P., Len S. and Angela Z. Three-year old Kiara M. supervised.  A special Thank You to Helen D. for again preparing and serving a wonderful lunch and snack break.  The chocolate brownie was truly decadent!

STEWARDSHIP CORNER.  John K. Galbraith wrote, “Money ranks with love as man’s greatest joy.  And it ranks with death as his greatest source of anxiety.”  Money has the potential to control our thoughts and our decision- making process.  The apostle Paul expressed some keen insight when he wrote, “The love of money is a root of all kinds of evil” (1 Timothy 6:10).  Money is not dangerous, but evil flows from the love of money.  “One eager to get rich will not go unpunished” (Proverbs 28:20).  If we love money, our view of life will be affected, and we will suffer many griefs.

PROVISO AREA CROP WALK.  YOU can make a difference!  Help to alleviate hunger throughout the world by supporting the Proviso Area Crop Walk on Sunday, Sept. 30, as a walker or as a sponsor.  Seventy-five percent of funds raised will go towards world hunger and twenty-five percent will support local area food pantries.  The walk will start from Westchester Community Church in Westchester.  Registration at 1:15 PM and the walk at 2:00 PM. Please see Angela Zabransky after church in the lunchroom for more information.
