Of all the gifts for which we thank God, above all is the gift of Himself to us, His erring but redeemed children!  Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).

Our purpose is to reach out to families and individuals of all backgrounds and bring them into healing and transforming relationships with the Lord Jesus and with others in His Church through the sharing of God’s Word and Sacraments.

FROM PASTOR JOHNSON.  “If you are in the hospital or are in need of pastoral care, please notify Maria in the church office.  If it is an emergency, please call my mobile phone (in printed copy of chimes).  Please don’t hesitate to call me at any hour if it is important; I keep the phone with me at all times.  If the matter is important enough to think about calling a pastor, by all means call me.  Please do not think you will disturb me or I will think the matter unimportant.  Thanks!”

ANNOUNCEMENTS

CARE CORPS/PROVISO PANTRY.  Please clip the Jewel Shop & Share certificate from the paper issue of today’s Chimes, take it to your local Jewel store next Monday through Wednesday, Nov. 12 – 14. In so doing, you will be helping the hungry in our area with a percentage of your bill being contributed to the Proviso Pantry.  The Pantry does a great job of helping the poor in our area to have food on the table 52 weeks of the year!  Thank you for caring!

NEXT SATURDAY, NOV. 17 is GROUNDS CLEAN UP -   9 to Noon.  Come! Join the group!

Bring your rack and gloves.  Refreshments will be provided.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS TODAY!    St. Paul’s biannual congregational meeting is coming up.  Next Sunday, November 18, we will meet after church in the cafeteria for reports from the pastor, principal and boards, as well as to approve next year’s Mission Budget.  Please plan on joining us for this important meeting as well as for food and fellowship.  In that spirit, the Board of Directors is organizing a good old-fashioned pot luck.  We ask you to prepare one of your own favorite or famous dishes to share.  The kitchen will be open before the 9:00 AM worship service to receive your food, as well as warming or cooling instructions.  In the interest of variety, we ask that you cook as assigned:

Last names beginning with  A – H – Hot dish, meat, casserole

                                                                              I – P   Cold dish, salads, sides

                               Q – Z   Desserts or breads

We know that the Lord will bless us in all that we do in His name.  And now we put our trust in him, that there won’t be 25 red jellos.

OAK PARK Concert Chorale (OPCC), led by director Paul Lindblad, will present Vivaldi’s Gloria and other Christmas favorites next Sunday, November 18, 4:00 PM, at St. John Lutheran Church – 305 Circle Ave. – Forest Park.  General admission $15; Seniors/students $10.  children 5 and under are free.  Group rates are available.  If you would like to order tickets please see Jeff Kiel after the worship service today, or call 708-383-4742.  Visit our website at www.OakParkConcertChorale.org.

THE FOLLOWING letter was received in Pastor Johnson’s office:  “It is a real joy when cultures unite in worship and praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  I wish to thank you and everyone else in your congregation that participated in the Multicultural worship service. There were many, many expressions of praise for this unique service.  I realize and appreciate all the work, time and effort that made this service a reality and as excellent as it was. Once again, thank you so much. Good Blessings, Janet Hassler
