Of all the gifts for which we thank God, above all is the gift of Himself to us, His erring but redeemed children!  Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).

Our purpose is to reach out to families and individuals of all backgrounds and bring them into healing and transforming relationships with the Lord Jesus and with others in His Church through the sharing of God’s Word and Sacraments.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

STEWARDSHIP CORNER.  Isn’t it interesting to think about those God chooses to be His stewards?  Mary and Joseph, ordinary people who didn’t stand out in the crowd.  An innkeeper without a room who gave what shelter he could.  Illiterate, lowly shepherds who heard, responded to, and repeated the Good News. Wise Men who traveled miles and miles to bring their gifts and honor the new King.  You and I, also ordinary people, who have been given various gifts to use to spread the Good News and honor the newborn King.

FREE HEALTH FAIR. Rock of Ages Baptist Church and West Suburban Health Ministry Coalition are offering a Health Fair on Saturday, January 26 from 9 AM – 1:00 PM (Registration begins at 8 AM).  Some Health Fair Highlights: Diabetes & Cancer Awareness, High Blood Pressure Screenings, Stroke Prevention, Fitness & Obesity, Sickle Cell, HPV, Prostate Cancer Screenings, Massages, manicures & Pedicures, and a Kiddie Corner (face painting, games, and popcorn for kids ages 6-12).   To register, please contact Giselle Vasquez at the American Cancer Society at 708-484-8541.

THE O.W.L.S. Group will meet on MONDAY January 21 at Concordia University, 7400 Augusta, River Forest.  Notice that the day is Monday rather than Wednesday.  The group will be going to Concordia to participate in the University's celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s birthday.  Attendees will meet in the narthex of the Chapel at 10:45, and worship with the student body in a Service of Praise at 11:00 AM.  Following the Service will have lunch in Concordia's lunchroom (cost is $8.14).  After lunch, at 1:00 PM  there will be a presentation in the Ferguson Art Gallery, in Kretzmann Hall, by Juarez Hawkins, a Chicago artist.  Hawkin's exhibit, Tribe, tells the story of Ifani and her ongoing search for her family and villagers scattered by slave traders. Those who may wish to stay longer may stay for the presentation of a Civil Rights Experience, at 2:00 PM, by Pastor Larry Morkert, who is currently the associate pastor at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Ill. All are invited to attend any O.W.L. event .  There are no dues, nothing to join.  Just come.  Also, if you need a ride, please contact Carla S.

The February event will be a trip to Rolling Meadows on February 13th, to attend OPERA IN FOCUS.  The program is Pops At The Puppet Opera, which features a collection of timeless songs from classic moments in cinema, done of course by puppets.  More details will be forthcoming but Carla needs to make reservations by January 30th.  Cost is $11.00 for the program. We will also be eating lunch. Please reserve your place with Carla Schoepp, along with your $11.00 payment.  Again all are welcome and rides are available.
