Of all the gifts for which we thank God, above all is the gift of Himself to us, His erring but redeemed children!  Whom have I in Heaven but You? And earth has nothing I desire besides you” (Psalm 73:25).

Our purpose is to reach out to families and individuals of all backgrounds and bring them into healing and transforming relationships with the Lord Jesus and with others in His Church through the sharing of God’s Word and Sacraments.

SUNDAY SCHOOL.  The children in Sunday School learned how Jesus identified Himself as the “Good Shepherd” and the “Door of the Sheep”. They learned how we entered that door and were made His sheep through Baptism. Talk with your child about how Jesus continues to feed and care for us with His Word and Sacraments. Talk about how other voices, sinful voices, in this world try to draw us away from our shepherd, Jesus.

FROM PASTOR JOHNSON.  “If you are in the hospital or are in need of pastoral care, please notify Maria in the church office.  If it is an emergency, please call my mobile phone (in printed copy of chimes).  Please don’t hesitate to call me at any hour if it is important; I keep the phone with me at all times.  If the matter is important enough to think about calling a pastor, by all means call me.  Please do not think you will disturb me or I will think the matter unimportant.  Thanks!”

ANNOUNCEMENTS

STEWARDSHIP CORNER.   As God’s stewards, our first assignment was given to us in Genesis 1:28: “God blessed them and said to them, ‘Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.  Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground.’ ”   God delegated us as His representatives to rule the earth in His place.  We have been given dominion over God’s creation.  Because God has retained His ownership of all things, we are stewards who are responsible and accountable to God.  God is the owner; we are the stewards or managers.

BATHROOM TISSUE & DIAPER COLLECTION.  This collection continues next weekend.  Care Corps will delivery your donations to the Proviso Food Pantry for distribution to the needy.  Your donations will be supplemented through a contribution by the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans—West Cook County—Chicago Chapter.  Containers will be placed at all entrances to the church where you can deposit your donations.

TUESDAY NIGHT Women's Bible Study will be meeting for a six week study starting April 29th-June 3rd. Come join us as we dig into God’s word to find the answers to Life’s big question. . . “Why was I created and what on earth am I here for?” Find the answers to this and many other questions when you join us for Part 1 of "For Such a Time as This" TUESDAYS! Contact Mia Koehne with Questions.

O.W.L.S. … Due to unforeseen problems, O.W.L.S. will be canceled for the month of April.  Please look for the notice for May's trip next week which will be a trip north (to compliment the trip that we took south), to hear about the history and see the sights in Chicago.  In June we will head west and meet later in the day to enjoy a supper and paddleboat ride on the Fox River.
