Church Planter and Pastor of Christ the King Presbyterian Church 1999-2002
Biography: I grew up in West Lafayette, Indiana in the Presbyterian church. I was very active in wrestling, long distance running in track, and playing guitar. Guitar playing soon became a “god” in my life. It was after my sophomore year at Indiana University that my faith in Jesus became a priority in my life.
I never planned on being a pastor even when I enrolled in seminary. My plan was to use my Spanish to help train church leaders in a Spanish speaking country. But God had other plans. After closing the door overseas several times, an opportunity opened to plant a church in El Paso, Texas. This was one of the most difficult and rewarding times of my life.
It was during my time in El Paso that the importance of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper grew in my ministry and in my own thinking. There were a few Lutheran pastors that I had befriended. And they were very instrumental in my making the transition into the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod. I am very grateful to be in the Lutheran tradition!
I am especially grateful to be at St. Paul. Here, my musical background and Spanish is used every day. The congregation and community are very diverse and very open to how we might serve our Lord in ministry.
