HAVE YOU EVER LOST…something?  Perhaps you’ve lost something at school…perhaps you’ve lost something at an airport…perhaps you’ve lost something at the office.  Where do you go when you lose something?...you go to the lost and found box.  Pastor Therwanger from Concordia University brought a lost and found box to school in chapel.  Different lost things were placed in the box and were waiting to be found.  He placed himself into the box…he was lost.  We too are lost.  We are lost by sin; but found by Jesus.  Since Jesus died and rose again for us, we are no longer lost…we have been found.  This week’s chapel speaker will be Mr. Grebasch.

Notices

A GREAT TRIP…As part of the school’s social studies curriculum, on Wednesday, May 21st, the 7th grade students boarded a bus and headed for Springfield, IL.  While at the state’s capital, they visited various historic and governmental sites including New Salem Village, the Lincoln Tomb, and the new Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library & Museum.  For an added bonus…after arriving at New Salem Village, the group rode on a trolley for the various destinations in the Springfield area.  Mrs. Boos, Mrs. Zemke, Mrs. Zemke, Mr. Grebasch, Mrs. P. Jackson, and Mrs. D. Jackson accompanied the children on this exciting field trip.

THE 8TH GRADE GRADUATION BANQUET…was held this Saturday, May 24th.  The event saw the 8th graders (almost graduates) and their parents enjoy a great evening.  Following the dinner, the parents had the opportunity to see and hear their children display their many talents and abilities.  This was a “super” way to end the school year.  St. Paul wishes to thank all the parents who helped make this event a real success.  A word of thanks goes to a number of the 7th graders and their parents for assisting with serving the meal and especially for the cleanup.  Special thanks go to Mrs. Talley and Mr. Powell for directing and organizing this end-of-the-year program.

MR. HAAK DESERVES A ROUND OF APPLAUSE…for the many hours he spent in working with the 8th graders, preparing them to provide the entertainment at the 8th grade graduation banquet. The work behind the scenes takes far more time than when the curtain is raised.  THANKS, MR. HAAK!

HELP…If your child is missing a library book, please help him/her find it.  Books not returned to the Discovery Center will be billed to your account.

END-OF-THE-YEAR BILLINGSwill be sent home with the children on Monday, June 2nd.  Please look for it.  If you have any questions regarding the statement, please contact the school office.

EXTRA, EXTRA, SEE ALL ABOUT IT…Extra yearbook pictures are available for only 10 cents each.  The pictures may purchased before school in the Discovery Center.

PLEASE BE REMINDED…It is St. Paul’s policy not to issue report cards, diplomas, or transfers until ALL tuition and fees are paid.  If you are unsure of your balance, please contact the school office.  NOTE…TUITION AND FEES CAN BE PAID BY CREDIT CARD!!!

YOU REALLY NEED TO READ THIS…The Illinois State Board of Education requires that all requests for the 2007 – 2008 Parent/Guardian Transportation Reimbursement be submitted on-line.  As a result, parents must come to the school office by Wednesday, June 4th, and complete the transportation reimbursement form.  Please double-check your social security number and complete address and know the distance from your home to St. Paul Lutheran School.  Please print clearly on the form.  By state statute, MapQuest will calculate the shortest driving distance from the school to verify your mileage.  Invalid entries will be excluded from reimbursement.

TIME IS RUNNING OUT....If it is your desire to continue to have your child receive a Christian and solid academic education, please complete the reenrollment form and return it to school as soon as possible.  The reenrollment fee is $50.00 through Friday, June 6th.  After June 6th, the fee will increase to $75.00.  St. Paul has started processing new students.  It is our sincere desire that each of you will continue to remain part of the St. Paul family.  To assist the school in the enrollment process and at the same time offer financial benefits to families presently having their child(ren) at St. Paul, families will be awarded one month’s free tuition to be applied at the end of the 2008 – 2009 school year if they recommend a new friend, relative, or neighbor to apply for enrollment and that child is subsequently enrolled in St. Paul and the family fulfills its school obligations.  Given the number of applications from other nonpublic and public schools in the area, and from families new to the community, space is limited in a number of grades.  In fairness to the new applicants, openings are being filled right now.  Do not lose your child’s spot…return your reenrollment form today!

JUNE MEANS SUMMER…SUMMER MEANS BBQ…BBQ MEANS MARKET DAY…Your grill is waiting…Baby Back Ribs (finger-licking good in your favorite sauce)…Ranch Steaks (rare, medium rare or well done…you make the call)…Steakpatties topped off with a slice of cheese.  No matter what your meal plans are, you can’t go wrong by ordering from Market Day.  The order form is due on Thursday, June 5th, and the pickup date is Thursday, June 12th.  This is the last order until September.  So, just pick up a pencil and place your order today.

Food for Thought:

We are not put on this earth for ourselves,

But are placed here for each other.

If you are there for others,

Then in time of need,

Someone will be there for you.
