BOY SCOUT TROOP 119
Posted January 9, 2006: Due to the lack of interest from both
adults and youth, both the Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack are no longer in
operation.
The
troop was founded in 1954 by Allen Turner and his wife Mildred “Tommi” Turner. Tommi is still active with both the Troop and Pack
today. All of their sons have gone
through both the Cub Scout Pack and Troop at
In
1969, Dick Alder was the first scout to reach the rank of Eagle Scout, the
highest rank a scout can achieve. About
one of a hundred scouts ever reach that rank. Between the years of 1992 and 2001, Daniel
Brown, Jason Murakami, Christopher Wachal, David
Reaves, Brent Paulus, Reid Beveridge,
Matthew Murakami, and Lawrence Brandon Colvin have reached the rank of
Eagle.
Troop
119 was part of the Des Plaines Valley
Council, which is made up of the OLD Thatcher Woods Area Council and West
Suburban Council. The two councils
merged about 1993. Each council had
their own summer camps, and they still are in operation today.
Our
troop went to Camp Shin-Go-Beek near Waupaca
