We gathered for a picture following our commissioning service.  It was a time for reflection, celebration, and worship.

Cross Cultural Training

We spent part of January with 21 incredible people, in Colorado Springs, CO at the Young Life Service Center.  The week of Cross Cultural Training was just what we needed.  We bounced ideas off each other and encouraged one another as International missionaries.  We were trained by very experienced, knowledgeable and faithful people.  Together, we explored the implications of doing ministry in a culture foreign to our own.  Our time there deepened our desire and call to leave our comforts to follow Christ in Sweden.  The others in the group will be deploying to many countries within the year.  Sharing stories with them emphasized that Christ is working in amazing ways throughout the world.  Yet there are still kids in need of hearing about the hopeful, forgiving love of Christ.  This fine group of Cross Cultural trainees will begin ministry in Belgium, France, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Czech Republic, Tanzania, SingaporeJapan, Portugal, Spain, and Sweden

What's Happening in Sweden?

We have been in frequent contact with those who are currently ministering in Sweden. They are currently preparing for the upcoming annual Ski Camp, which is taking place at the end of February.  Dozens of kids and leaders are traveling to northern Sweden to enjoy a week of relationship and skiing.  This is a great time for leaders and youth to build friendships and to share Christ with kids in a genuine way.

In addition to connecting with teens, Young Life Sweden is developing strong ties in the local community.  Just recently, they hosted a banquet in Täby for adults interested in partnering and working with Young Life.  They celebrated with a Tex/Mex theme.  Over 100 people attended.  This is an incredible step for Young Life Sweden.  It is a primary goal to have Young Life Sweden supported and run by Swedes, who will naturally have an easier time connecting with and understanding the youth of their own culture.  Swedish support and leadership continues to grow each year.  Thank God!

                        Ouch!

Thank You!

We are so grateful for your prayers and support throughout our lives and particularly at this exciting and challenging time.  You have helped us raise over 56% of our annual budget.  We still need $36,000 in monthly/annual pledges before we can depart.  God willing, we hope to begin minstry in late April.  We are now living in Rockford, Illinois with the Cross family. It has been an incredible blessing getting to spend exta time with Rebecca's sister and parents before we leave for three years.  In addition to cherishing time with friends and family in Rockford, we spend our days substitute teaching, sharing the vision of our ministry with others and working out moving details. Subbing has been incredibly rewarding, as God has opened our hearts for kids in the schools we've been teaching.  As always, God has taught us so much as we trust in His timing.

Please pray for:

-The development and growth of Swedish leadership

-The Young Life Ski Camp--for safety and most of all, that the Gospel is proclaimed and heard loud and clear

-That God brings forward the support necessary to begin ministry overseas

-Our friends and fellow YL missionaries around the world

-The students and schools where we're subbing, that we'd be witnesses daily

Please let us know how we can pray for and support you.
