This is a typical bonfire found throughout Sweden on the traditional Valborg holiday.

We, Keegan and Rebecca Christ, wanted to update you on our mission to Sweden. Thank you so much for your care in our lives.  You are truly special to us. Enjoy!

On April 30, 2007 Swedes celebrated Valborg, a traditional holiday celebrating the beginning of Spring. Typically, Swedes join their families outdoors to sing and gather around the bonfires.  However, teenagers have turned this holiday into a large party.  Swedish newspapers report more than 50% of teenagers get drunk on the night of Valborg.  Young Life worked with a local church in Täby to celebrate with kids in a more positive manner.  Young Life leaders also served throughout the late night and early morning hours searching for passed out teenagers in the woods.  Leaders had opportunties to get to know un-churched kids better as they helped them get to hospitals and we pray that relationships were forged that will continue to develop over time.

Are you the missing piece?

Are We There Yet?

Wow.  God is incredible!  Since our last update we have been blessed by some tremendous partnership in ministry.  We almost have the green light to hop on the plane to Sweden.  The week of summer camp begins on June 15th and it would be a great way to start our ministry if we can be there for camp.

We still need $1,600 per month for the next three years.  That's only 16 people @ $100 per month.  That's not so big.  We started at nearly $7,200 a month.  God is big and has blessed this ministry through people like you.  If you had planned on getting on board but have been bogged down by the business of spring, now is the time gang!  Remember, no gift is too small for God to use in big ways.  Your $10 per month might get us out the door.

Books, Papers, and Exams

Hurray! We finished our first Graduate courses.  After spending over 70 hours in lectures, reading 11 books, and writing 28 pages each we were excited to be done.  We learned a lot about communicating Christ to teens in today's culture and we recommend that anyone who deals with teens read Hurt by Chap Clark and Soul Searching by Smith and Denton.  Both were eye-opening in understanding youth better as well as how they perceive God.

Please pray for:
-Summer camp preparation and kids to sign up
-$1800 in monthly support so we may begin ministry

-The Visa process to go smoothly
-Becka's Grandma Kay, who found a 1 in. mass in her brain
Seriously!
Please let us know how we can pray for and support you.  E-mail requests to: Rebecca(atsymbol)younglife.se*, put “prayer request” in subject line.
