God Moments!
Since we have been back to Sweden, we have had a lot of cool little things happen and we'd like to share a few:Last Friday, I was taking the train to Vallentuna and saw a girl who looked so sad. I decided to sit across from her.  After a few minutes of God tugging at my heart to say something to her,  I got up the courage to tell her in Swedish that I think her tights are really cool.  She began to perk up, though she was startled as Swedes DO NOT TALK TO STRANGERS! I apologized for starting up a random conversation and explained that I sometimes forget because in America its so common.  We ended up talking the entire trip to Vallentuna.  Something from our conversation struck me. She said, "I'm glad you talked to me. I was just sitting here thinking that I wonder how I would ever meet a friend if I cannot talk to anyone." So, please pray for Illma and that I might meet her on the train again. I really sense that God placed me there and prodded me towards this conversation.

--This past weekend, we had the opportunity to meet with Peter and Eimen the director and his assistant at Nova, a youth hangout in Vallentuna. It was a great conversation and we feel like we were able to articulate to him both our faith and our concern and care for kids.  We offered our support at the youth center and asked if we could help them out regularly.  This would be an incredible chance for us to get to know kids who have no other place to hangout.  Peter and Eimen seemed excited and promised to talk to their staff about it and get back to us shortly. Pray for open doors. It is an exciting next step within Vallentuna.

--On our way home from meeting with Peter and Eimen we saw so many drunk teens waiting around in and around Vallentuna.  It opened our eyes even bigger to the mission field God has called us to and reminded us of why he brought us to this small town.

--On Monday, I invited my Bible study girls over for a Valentine's Day party and semester kick off.  6 Girls came and we spent the time doing a devotion, eating yummy treats and discussing what our group's focus should be for the Spring.  The girls began to share that they want the group to be a place where they can really open up and share about the struggles they experience being the only Christians in their schools.  They want to go deeper and apply what we study in the Bible to their daily lives.  The best part was when they asked me if we can get together more often to study the Word. So, now we will meet every Monday from 4-5:30. Keep us in your prayers: Sara, Linnea, Johanna, Victoria, Elin, and Camilla.

Text Box:
It was such a blessing to be surrounded by 4,000 other Christians dedicated to meeting kids and sharing Christ with them in a relational manner. With 4,000 people, even walking through the halls reminded us of what God is capable of. Singing old hymns, praising God together, studying the Word, and sharing "kid" stories from past and present was completely incredible! Praise God for this chance to be rejuvenated!
Personally Growing with God

This past January we had the incredible opportunity of attending Young Life's All Staff Conference, held once every 4 years. Here, we met nationals who do ministry in the Former Soviet Union, Kenya, Brazil, Spain, and many other countries around the world. Over 50 flags hung representing the places around the world where there is significant Young Life ministry. Though the ministries throughout the US and around the world have different challenges, we all have the same mission: introducing adolescents to Jesus Christ and helping them to grow in their faith.

One of our favorite parts about the conference was seeing Young Life put a major focus on prayer and spiritual growth. The first day of the conference we began with a time of fasting and prayer.  We spent the entire day praying as a whole group, in small groups and individually for aspects of our mission I did not even know existed. For example: in Russia there is a YL Capernaum ministry reaching out to teens with physical and mental handicaps. These "unwanted" kids learn that Christ wants and loves them deeply. We also prayed for Young Lives, a ministry that reach out to teen-moms and dads who need to hear the hope of Jesus Christ.

Another Highlight was hearing and learning from the many guest speakers, a few of whom were kids who have been impacted by the Word of God in their lives.   We were so humbled by how BIG God is and how far and wide the efforts are to proclaim Him.

Keegan, Matt and Mom try on their new robes on Christmas Eve.  Matt won his in the Gulcynski family (our cousin's) random gift exchange.

Please Pray For:

--The Christian adults in Vallentuna that we will be asking to join a committee to pray for and discern direction for Vallentuna

--Open doors to be mentors to students at the Gymnasium and Nova (2 schools and a youth hangout).

--Us to find an affordable 2 bedroom apartment in Vallentuna.

--Praise and thanksgiving for the time we had in the USA with family, friends, an incredible Conference and a week of quality training.

Please let us know how we can pray for you.  E-mail requests to: rebecca.younglife(atsymbol)gmail.com
