Pippi Longstocking leads the games for our 2nd Camp Reunion Party. Here she challenges the group to walk across downtown without ever touching the ground. The day was a success, bonding leaders and kids

We had a slumber party with 10 girls. The highlight of the night was doing a "Sit and Spin" a random set of questions, some deep and some lighter, that allowed us to get to know each other better.  One of the girls said during that time that "I don't know if I believe in God yet or not, but that I think that if there is a God, he brought me to this group."

I have heard so many times in my life, "something that isn't worth working hard for, isn't worth having at all." Doing ministry in Sweden has reminded me how true that statement is!

At times, I get down on myself because we are working so hard and only impacting a few at a time.  I started to doubt if I really have anything to offer until I came across the Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25:14-30.  In the parable, there were 3 different servants. The first two use the resources given them and double it.  The third servant is too afraid of what he could lose if he tries something and fails. So he simply hides away the resources given him.

What struck me as I read this scripture is that the servants are all given different resources to work with. No matter how much they are given, though, they are all expected to do something with it.  The man given 5 talents can use his skills in a different way than the man with 2.  This made me think about life here in Sweden.   We have been given an extremely secular culture to break into.  Of course it will be hard to communicate a loving God who wants a personal relationship to teenagers!  We have a different set of resources to work with than doing ministry in other places we have done it.  But we are to use the resources we have instead of being afraid and holding back.

The second thing that struck me was the Master's response, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!"  The two servants who use their gifts and talents to His glory experience return for their labor. What an incredible reminder to continue to keep trying new methods, being brave and trying cross-cultural ideas.

Ahead this Fall...

--We are attempting to start a weekly English Club to meet new kids and serve the community.  We plan to meet every Tuesday afternoon to play games, practice English and build relationships.  Pray that the English Club will attract new leaders and kids and will lead to an open door into the local schools.

--Film Club:  Each month, we will invite kids from the community to watch a film, play games, and discuss the film. We are choosing movies and questions that help us talk about God.  Pray that these talks would go deep, that many kids would come and that the discussions would extend beyond the Club time.

--We will host a monthly community wide prayer time to welcome everyone who cares about teens to come.
Pray that churches and individuals will unite to pray for teens. Pray that this will lead to more contacts and greater trust in God.

--Leadership Training for leaders. We are running another 5 week new leader training for 4-8 people.  We are also experiencing interest from older adults to help with the English club.  Pray for a strong time of community and excitement for the 5 week training. Pray also for wisdom to encourage older adults to be apart of the Young Life mission of leading kids to Christ through relationships.

--Wednesday Lunches: We had kids over during their lunch today for Burgers and we decided to start it as a weekly routine after it gave us the chance to connect with 4 new kids. Pray that Wednesday lunches would be an opening into kids' hearts.
