MS. ULRICH RECEIVES THE TIMOTHY AWARDAWARD

At the Northern Illinois Teachers’ Conference held this past week, Ms. Ulrich, our 6th grade teacher, was the recipient of the Timothy Award.  This award is presented each year to only one teacher with fewer than ten years of experience who is considered to be a “model” or “master” teacher.  The key criteria that must be considered is that an individual is a model of Christian servanthood with exceptional abilities in the field of education and instruction.

She is able to spark the fire of excitement in exploring the unknown to bring joy to her students as they grow in knowledge and more importantly in understanding.  Her ministry goes far beyond the narrow limits of the classroom.  She assisted in coaching the cross-country team . As a faculty member, she co-chairs both the Worship Committee and the Yearbook Committee , served on the Summer Retreat Committee, and works with the tutoring and homework help programs. There is a sign over the main doors of our church which reads, “You Are Now Entering the Mission Field.”  Ms. Ulrich, our 6th grade teacher, took those words to heart. She spent part of a summer on a mission trip to Montanuela, Honduras.  This journey gave her the opportunity to bring both the light of the Gospel to darkened hopes and a pair of hands to assist in rebuilding what a hurricane had destroyed.  All of us at St. Paul are so grateful to the Lord for giving us such a dedicated and faithful servant and rejoice with her in being the recipient of the Timothy Award.
